Tankers serving the Pasir Gudang and Tanjung Langsat terminals sit squarely inside the JPJ SLD rules, and they rarely have a spare day off the road.
Since 12 January 2026, JPJ's revised brake test fails lorries whose brakes are set excessively tight or loose. Book the brake check and the SLD fitting together, and the tanker arrives at Puspakom Pasir Gudang with its SLD paperwork already prepared.

Do Johor Bahru lorries that run into Singapore need a speed limiter set for Singapore too?
The Malaysian JPJ SLD is required on the lorry either way. Singapore's speed limiter rules apply to goods vehicles over 12,000 kg maximum laden weight used on Singapore roads, set at 60 km/h and enforced by Singapore Traffic Police, with no published exemption for foreign goods vehicles. Ask us about a two-profile device, and confirm acceptance with Singapore Traffic Police.
Which Puspakom branches verify SLDs for Johor Bahru fleets?
Puspakom Johor Bahru, Puspakom Senai (Lot 221 Jalan Seelong), Puspakom Taman Daya (Lot 19-01 Jalan Sagu 17) and Puspakom Pasir Gudang. Wider Johor operators also use Muar, Segamat, Batu Pahat and Kluang.
What permit does a Malaysian lorry need to enter Singapore?
A Goods Vehicle Permit, plus an Autopass card, insurance and road tax. The GVP costs S$40 a month and rises to S$70 on 1 January 2027. The Vehicle Entry Permit applies to cars and motorcycles, not goods vehicles.
Does JPJ's revised brake test affect SLD verification?
They are separate checks on the same visit. Since 12 January 2026, lorries fail the brake test if brakes are set excessively tight or loose. We suggest booking the brake check alongside the SLD fitting so the lorry goes to Puspakom once.
When does enforcement apply to existing Johor Bahru vehicles?
Vehicles registered after 1 January 2015 have been enforced since 1 October 2025, and older vehicles since 1 January 2026. Only the Phase 3 retrofit date of 1 July 2026 was postponed, so Phase 1 and Phase 2 checks, including Notis Siasatan under Section 114, carry on in Johor Bahru.
